LIMMS 20th anniversary

The LIMMS (Laboratory for Integrated Micro-Mechatronic Systems), a joint laboratory between the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research, France) and the Institute of Industrial Science (IIS) of the University of Tokyo has celebrated its 20th anniversary (1995-2015). The LIMMS was created in 1995 by two visionaries, Prof. Jean-Jacques Gagnepain, scientific Director of the Engineering Science department of CNRS and Prof. Fumio Harashima, General Director of IIS of the University of Tokyo, bridging the administrative and scientific gaps between the 2 countries at that time. The ceremony was held on Thursday January 29, 2015 in IIS site of the Komaba Campus in Tokyo. The event was highlighted by the presences of Prof. Yoshiaki Nakano, Director General of IIS, Prof. Jean-Yves Marzin, Director of the Institute of Engineering Sciences and Systems of CNRS and the Ambassador of France in Japan, his Excellency Thierry Dana. A large delegation of CNRS researchers and directors from France joint the event. During the celebration, a room of the IIS was dedicated to the Prof. Jean-Jacques Gagnepain memory and a plaque was unveiled.
