LiMMS is an international research unit on MEMS and NEMS (Micro- and Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems) operated in joint names of France, CNRS - Institut des sciences de l'ingenierie et des Systemes INSIS, and Japan, Institute of Industrial Science (IIS), The University of Tokyo.


LiMMS is located on Komaba Campus (II), in Tokyo. Our Research activities are focused on 3 main fields related to micro- and nano- technologies: Bio MEMS, Nanotechnologies, Advanced MEMS. 

Since 2016, LIMMS has highlighted 4 general fields of applications of these technologies by propose specific research axis : Integrative Bioengineering, bioMEMS for translational research, Energy and Smart Sensors in society.

EUJO-LIMMS Workshop : Opening LIMMS to a 4th partner October 25, 2013 at the University of Freiburg (IMTEK), Germany

As part of its call for a 4th partner open now, EUJO-LIMMS, in cooperation with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Core-to-core program, organizes a Networking Workshop at the University of Freiburg, Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) in Freiburg (Germany) on October 25, 2013. EUJO-LIMMS cooperation opportunities as well as emerging scientific challenges will be presented. Meet UT-IIS Professors and prepare an application to the call.

Director General of the European Commission - DG Research and Innovation at LIMMS on June 21, 2013

On June 21, Robert-Jan Smits, Director General of DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission, and a Delegation of EU representatives visited EUJO-LIMMS at UT-IIS. They were introduced to LIMMS and its european extension, EUJO-LIMMS, met LIMMS and EUJO-LIMMS researchers and visited a cleanroom. LIMMS at IIS 2013 Open House - May 31 - June 1, 2013

On Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st, 2013, from 10:00 to 17:00, Komaba Research Campus will open to the public. Come visit LIMMS and meet researchers in E lounge of the IIS building during the Open House.

LIMMS Workshop on the Frontiers of Nanoscience and Biosystems - May 16-17,2013 - CNRS Campus Gerard Megie - Paris (France)

The LIMMS European-Japanese workshop will review and discuss the frontier research on Nanoscience and Biosystems by Japanese, French and European research leaders around 4 main challenges : Molecular and Cellular Systems, Biomechanical Measurements and Analysis, In situ Characterization of Nanostructures, Energy Conscious Devices. CNRS - En direct des laboratoires - Des prédateurs moléculaires CNRS Paris, 30 janvier 2013 Les chercheurs du LIMMS (CNRS/Université de Tokyo) ont réussi à montrer comment on fabrique, dans des systèmes artificiels non vivants, les mécanismes qui fournissent la base de la dynamique des écosystèmes. En partant de réactions simples pour créer de manière entièrement artificielle un système prédateur-proie dans un tube à essai, les chercheurs ont mis en lumière la profonde homologie qui lie de manière continue les systèmes moléculaires, les réseaux cellulaires et les écosystèmes. Ce travail publié dans ACS nano(1)(voir aussi l’article de perspective (2)) souligne les liens qui existent entre les mondes biologiques et chimiques et permet de mieux comprendre les racines microscopiques des phénomènes du vivant.
